Make a Gift
First Baptist Church of Asheboro (FBCA) is a fellowship of believers committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and to one another, seeking to join with Him in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:17-19), beginning in Asheboro and spreading to the far corners of the world. Our aim is to serve God. Our responsibility is to spread His Word. Our joy is His Everlasting Love.

We shall seek to be:

  • A Worshipping Church. Finding meaning in life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and exhibiting a life of continual worship, praise, thanksgiving and adoration to God.
  • A Praying Church. Seeking guidance, strength, and empowerment for life and ministry from God.
  • A Loving Church. Seeking to embody the character of Christ’s love and the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • A Nurturing Church. Guiding believers in the way of Christ through discipleship, education, prayer, and meaningful fellowship.
  • A Witnessing Church. Reaching out to those in our community and the world in calling people to faith in Christ.
  • A Sharing Church. Sharing love with others by giving of time, abilities, and resources in helping people in times of need.
  • A Cooperating Church. Supporting and cooperating with other Christian bodies in fulfilling the Great Commission and ministering in Christ’s name.

Core Values

At FBC Asheboro, our core values center around connecting people to God, to each other, and to the world.

Connecting to God

  • Worship – We value joyous worship, honoring the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as we extol the life and love of our Lord Jesus Christ. We will seek to encourage and live a lifestyle of personal and corporate worship.
  • Prayer – We value prayer as our privilege of speaking with the King of the Universe, expressing and developing our intimate relationship with Him. Prayer is essential to our relationship with our loving God and is essential to our discovering His desires for us as individuals and as a church.
  • Bible – We value the Bible as God’s inspired word providing spiritual food for our souls and a doorway to His will and a way for living and requiring us to follow in obedience.

Connecting to Each Other

  • Acceptance/Compassion – We believe all people matter to God, thus we seek to extend love and acceptance to ourselves and others, treat others with love and respect, and love each other as God loves us as we live authentically in relationship to each other and Christ in becoming a growing disciple of Christ.
  • Discipleship – We place a high value on helping people to grow in their relationship with Christ and become mature followers in relationship with Him and others in the world.
  • Family/Children/Youth – We believe family is the cornerstone of our society, thus we seek to connect all families and individuals in order to deepen their walk with Jesus. We do this by fostering a culture of love, compassion, and encouragement.

Connecting to the World

  • Service – We seek to help each person develop and use their gifts to serve God and others in excellence both inside and outside of the church community.
  • Mission – We are a sent people responding to the call of Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go into all the world living and proclaiming Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of life. We value the mission God gives us over convenience and personal comfort.
  • Stewardship – We value commitment to being good stewards of God’s provisions of time, money, and spiritual gifts as we join together in being a missional people.

Our Covenant

We have been called of God into a covenant relationship with Him and have been gathered for His purposes. In the presence of God and in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we enter into this covenant with one another as members of First Baptist Church of Asheboro.

We commit ourselves to Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. We pledge to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and to bring all areas of our lives under His Lordship.

We pledge to be growing stewards. We promise to help one another develop and use our individual, God-given gifts and to become active and useful fellow-ministers of the church.

We covenant to live in this fellowship as disciples. We will seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Savior and to order our lives so as to be witnesses to God’s love and sustaining grace.

We commit ourselves to the regular and faithful worship of God, to the observance of the ordinances, and to the doctrines, disciplines and ministries of the church.

In order to support the ministries of the church and to spread the Gospel to all people, we pledge to contribute cheerfully, regularly, and proportionally of our material possessions.

We covenant to live as Christians in our homes and pledge to engage in family and individual devotions. We will teach our children by instruction and example that Christ is Savior and Lord and that in commitment to Him we find life’s highest purpose.

We covenant to live as Christians in the world, to be Christ-like in our conduct and just in our dealings. We will not knowingly engage in any conduct that may cause another to stumble.

We further covenant to include all people everywhere within the circle of our love and concern. While holding to our Baptist heritage, we shall seek with all Christians a unity of spirit and action.

We moreover engage that, when we relocate from this place, we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Statement of Faith

1. We believe in One God who reveals Himself in three persons:
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Mathew 28:19; Galatians 4:4-6; Titus 3:4-7)

  • God the Father Almighty who is Creator of heaven and earth, Maker of all that is, seen and unseen. (Genesis 1:1-3)
  • God the Son, Jesus Christ, who is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, the Savior and Lord of all who believe and trust in Him. (John 1:1-4, 14)
  • God the Holy Spirit who is Comforter, Encourager, and Counselor, the very presence of God in, with, and among us. (John 4:24; 14:16-17, 26)

2. We believe that the Bible is inspired by God, and that under the Lordship of Christ is authoritative for the life of the Christian and the Church.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

3. We believe all people sin and fall short of the glory of God and face eternal separation from God. However, when they experience the forgiveness of sin through Jesus, they inherit life everlasting and will experience the future resurrection.
(Romans 3:23-24; 6:23;10:9-10,13; Acts 4:12)

4. We believe that salvation is an unmerited and unearned gift of grace from God that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, and that each person has the free will to respond to God’s gracious gift of salvation.
(Ephesians 2:8-10, John 1:12; John 3:16, I John 5:13)

5. We believe that every follower of Christ is a priest and a minister, with direct access to God and gifted by God for ministry.
(I Peter 2:9; Heb. 4:16; Romans 12:3-8; I Corinthians 12)

6. We believe that followers of Christ should live in loving obedience to God and should be active in sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ through words and deeds.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; John 14:15;15:12; James 2:26)

7. We believe that each person should be granted religious freedom, and that sharing our faith should be done graciously in love, without coercion.
(Matthew 22:21; John 8:32;36; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:1; Ephesians 3:12; Colossians 4:5-6; I Peter 3:15)

8. We believe that Christ is the head of the Church, and that under Christ churches should be autonomous communities of worship, faith, and fellowship.
(I Corinthians 12:12-13.27; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 5:23-24b; Colossians 3:15-16)

9. We believe that the New Testament teaches that believers should remember the gift and sacrifice of Christ through the symbol of the Last Supper and celebrate the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ through believer’s baptism which we practice by immersion.
(Mark 14:22-25; I Corinthians 11:20, 23-26; Romans 6:1-4)

10. We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society, that God defined marriage as the uniting of one man and one woman in a covenant commitment for life, and that parents are to live and teach children the truth and ways of God.
(Genesis 2:21-24; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 5:21-6:4; Colossians 3:18-21)
