Welcome to First Baptist Church! We love being part of the Asheboro community and being part of what God is doing to transform us. We meet together to worship and grow in our walk with Jesus and we go out to serve wherever our journey takes us.

Relationships are vital to life. Everything we do is designed to build and strengthen our relationships with God and others. Through worship, prayer, fellowship, education, ministry, and missions we seek to build lifelong relationships that last. At FBC Asheboro, you will find friends with whom you can freely share your joys and sorrows, fears and frustrations. These friends will walk with you, pray with you, and seek to be all they can be in Christ for you. Together we seek to become all Christ wants for us and join with him in what he is doing in the world.

Pastoral Staff

Stephen Owen

Senior Pastor

Senior Pastor Stephen Owen joined the FBC Asheboro team in April 2023. He holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University, and two graduate degrees from Campbell University in Divinity and Business Administration. Pastor Stephen is committed to being Bible-based, Christ-centered, and mission-minded in all walks of life. At his right hand is Emily, wife and mother of their six children ranging in age 15 years to one.

Michael Thames

Connections Pastor

Mr. Thames is a graduate of John Wesley University with a degree in Pastoral Ministry. He has over 25 years of experience in ministry, including roles in youth, pastoral care, and senior leadership. Michael began his ministry on staff at FBC Asheboro in 2025.

Rick Davis

Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Missions

Mr. Davis has studied at Newburgh Theological Seminary in the Missions and Evangelism Program and Light University in the Christian Council Program. Rick joined our staff in 2009.

Aaron Littell

Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adults

Mr. Littell is a graduate of Milligan College and Appalachian State University. He is currently enrolled at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary for a Master of Art in Discipleship. Mr. Littell joined the FBC Asheboro team in October 2023.

Jennifer York

Associate Pastor of Preschool & Children

Mrs. York joined the pastoral team at FBC Asheboro in January 2025. She brings over 20 years of experience in ministry, including leadership roles in children’s and family ministries, community outreach, and pastoral care.

Alyssa Plott

Director of Music Ministries

Mrs. Plott joined the FBC Asheboro Leadership Team in 2024, bringing with her over 13 years of experience in music education. Having served as a public school educator/High School Choral Director, Mrs. Plott is very passionate about musical development at all ages!
